Meet Amy (she/her) LPC, LCMHC, NATC, MED

Relatable therapist offering support for healing from narcissistic abuse and difficult relationships

Welcoming Telehealth Therapy Clients in Virginia and North Carolina

Hi! I'm so glad you're here.

I’m a licensed professional counselor with a deep clinical focus on relationships, both with others and with self. I often work with clients navigating life transitions, anxiety, codependency, family issues, and recovery from difficult or antagonistic relationships.

My style is warm, relatable, and straightforward. I won’t tell you what to do, but I also won’t avoid the hard stuff. Clients have often shared that therapy doesn’t feel scary with me, especially those coming to therapy for the first time.

I aim to create a space that feels approachable and supportive, even when the work is challenging. Humor sometimes shows up in session, and I believe it can be deeply therapeutic and healing in its own right. Therapy can hold depth, insight, and even lightness all at once, and that balance matters.

I’m a certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC), trained through Dr. Ramani Durvasula’s curriculum. I have a strong clinical interest in helping clients heal from narcissistic relationships, whether with partners, parents, friends, or colleagues etc. These dynamics are often subtle, confusing, and deeply wounding, and can be difficult to name, let alone recover from. In our work together, my priority is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and believed. Recovery from narcissistic abuse isn’t just about understanding what happened, it’s about reclaiming and healing your sense of self, rebuilding trust in your instincts, and moving forward with clarity and confidence.

My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and humanistic, person- centered principles.
This simply means I aim to understand how your early experiences shape your current patterns, while also showing up with authenticity, warmth, and deep respect. I'm a trauma informed and antagonism informed clinician, which means I pay close attention to the nuanced ways certain relationships and life experiences affect emotional well-being. I often integrate tools from the Gottman Method, Imago Therapy, mindfulness based strategies, and psychoeducation. Many clients find it helpful to understand the why behind their patterns, or someone else’s, and I value the opportunity to support that insight and growth.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade working at a boutique government affairs firm on Capitol Hill.
While I appreciated the structure and challenge of that fast paced world, I felt a strong calling to do more meaningful, people-centered work. While working full time, I pursued my master’s degree in counseling and development. I began my counseling career in 2015 as an intern at a private practice in Falls Church, Virginia. From the start, I worked with a wide range of clients and concerns. I initially focused on men’s issues and couples' work, and while those remain areas of interest, my work has since evolved to more broadly focus on relational healing and emotional resilience.

In 2018, I moved to Australia, where I continued working with my U.S. based clients via telehealth.
I also joined a private practice in Melbourne and eventually opened my own. Working with clients from around the world was a deeply meaningful experience that affirmed a core belief I hold: our struggles are universally human, and everyone deserves support and healing no matter where they come from. I returned to the U.S. in late 2021 and now live in central North Carolina.

I’m licensed to practice in both Virginia and North Carolina.
Having lived and worked in both high pressure environments like D.C. and more grounded, slower paced areas like North Carolina, I bring a unique perspective into the therapy room. I understand how systems, whether it’s career demands, cultural expectations, or family dynamics, can profoundly impact our emotional lives and shape how we relate to ourselves and others.

I proudly welcome individuals of all races, cultures, and backgrounds.
I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, neuroaffirming, and experienced in supporting a wide range of identities and lived experiences. I strive to create a space that feels safe, nonjudgmental, empowering, and genuinely supportive.

If you have questions or would like to explore working together, I’d be honored to connect with you. Please message me today.
